Donegal fans get closer look at Toyota rally car during women in motorsport event

Rally fans in Donegal got a chance to get a closer look at one of the quickest rally cars on earth at a special women in motorsport and road safety event in Letterkenny yesterday.

This amazing opportunity was organised by Motorsport Ireland and the Women in Motorsport Commission, in collaboration with the Donegal Motor Club, An Garda Síochána, Foróige, and the Road Victim Support Northern Ireland – Donegal charity.

Women and girls from Donegal and further afield were invited to check out the Toyota Yaris Rally 2 car of Meirion Evans at the event, who finished second in last year’s Donegal International Rally in the same machinery.

The Yaris Rally 2 has quickly become arguably the fastest car in the Rally 2 class in international competition, claiming two wins so far this season in the hands of Oliver Solberg in WRC2 – the series just one step below the World Rally Championship.

The event in Letterkenny aimed to connect female fans with one of the quickest cars on the Donegal stages this year, to educate them on the importance of road safety, and also introduce them to possible opportunities in Irish motorsport.
