There were celebrations earlier this week in St Johnston as Fr Oliver McCrossan celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his ordination into the priesthood.
St Johnston local Fr McCrossan was ordained at St Baithin’s Church in 1975.
Fr McCrossan then became a St Columban Missionary – spending much of his life on mission in the Phillipines, his last visit taking place just months ago.
A special mass was held in his honour on Friday at St Baithin’s, celebrated by Bishop of Ossory Niall Coll, Monsignor Dan Carr and Fr Philip Kemmy.
The local community gathered together at the St Johnston & Carrigans Resource Centre for some refreshments, and to congratulate Fr McCrossan on his golden jubilee.
