A talented young Donegal golfer has won the prestigious U14 Flogas Irish Junior Open Tour.
Charlie O’Hora (13), from Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club, was the Ping Major Nett Champion at the event which was staged at the Lough Erne Resort, Fermanagh, last weekend.
The Irish Junior Open is Ireland’s largest and one of Europe’s biggest Junior, Adult/Junior and Elite WAGR Golf Tours with competitors travelling from all over the world to compete.
A student at St Columba’s College, Stranorlar, Charlie’s was among the standout performances at Lough Erne.
“This victory is set to elevate his position in the prestigious European Golf Rankings,” a spokesperson for the tour organisers said.
“His victory has also helped propel him up the Payne Stewart Spring Tour trophy Leaderboard.”
Charlie’s burgeoning career includes qualifying for and competing in the ‘Champion of Champions’ World Championship, the world’s largest junior champions invitational along with a host of other impressive titles.
No doubt, he inherited his golfing skills from his proud parents, Joe and Brenda.
The Irish Junior Open attracts young talent aged 5 to 25 from across the globe. Competitors vie for esteemed trophies, including the Gary Player, Payne Stewart, Darren Clarke, Tom McKibbin, and Ping Trophies, in tournaments that offer a unique experience for golfers of all abilities.
