A new report released today by the Central Statistics Office shows that Donegal has the lowest household income on the island of Ireland.
The CSO report, based on 2022 figures, showed that County Donegal had a median household income of €42,497 – that’s half of the region with the highest median income, Dún Laoghraire-Rathdown in Dublin at €84,991.
Donegal’s median household income was also almost €10,000 lower than the highest region in Ulster, County Cavan, whose median income reached €52,321.
Letterkenny was the town with the highest median net income in County Donegal, at €43,970.
Meanwhile Lifford not only had the lowest median net income in Donegal, but also of any town in the state – at €31,038.
