A Ballybofey man who had a knife hidden in his underpants when stopped by Gardai has appeared in court.
Kyle Scanlon, of Glenview Park, Ballybofey, appeared before a recent sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
Garda Sergeant Gerard Dalton gave details of the search on November 7th, 2024 at Glenview Park.
He told how Scanlon was search and the fishing knife recovered but stressed that the knife was not wielded in any way by the accused.
Scanlon faces a raft of charges before the court.
He is also charged that on September 15th, 2023, at Glenview Park, Donegal Road Ballybofey, he had a black knuckle duster in his possession made for causing injury to or incapacitating a person. .
Scanlon is also charged that on November 11th, 2024 at Donegal Road, Ballybofey, he did drive a vehicle, in a manner (including speed) which having regard to all the circumstances of the case (including the condition of the vehicle, the nature, condition and use of such place and the amount of the traffic which then actually was or might reasonably be expected then to be therein) was dangerous to the public or was likely to be dangerous to the public.
On the same date at Meenglass, Ballybofey, he is charged that he did drive a mechanically propelled without holding a driving licence for the time being having effect and licensing him to drive such vehicle.
The accused is also charged that on the same date at Donegal Road, Ballybofey, he did drive a mechanically propelled vehicle while there was present in his body a quantity of alcohol such that, within 3 hours after so driving, the concentration of alcohol in his blood did exceed a concentration of 20 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, to wit 143 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 milliltres of blood.
On the same date at Glenview Park ,Ballybofey, Scanlon is charged that he did unlawfully take possession of a mechanically propelled vehicle without the consent of the owner.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Patsy Gallagher, asked for all the cases to be adjourned to September 8th next for a plea or a date.
