The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) was among a number of services that took part in a major operation in Termon last night.
A man, in his 30s, was subsequently airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital following an incidenton a quad bike at around 9pm.
In a statement, DMRT said its volunteers responded to an incident at Lower Lough Salt following a tasking by the National Ambulance Service (NAS). The multi-agency response included Advanced Paramedics, a Critical Care Doctor, Milford Fire Brigade, Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo, and local volunteers providing transport assistance.
“Upon arrival, Fire Brigade and NAS crews had already begun casualty extraction,” a DMRT spokesperson said.
“DMRT supported with high line operations for safe helicopter transfer. The casualty was airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital. We thank all agencies and local helpers involved in this successful rescue operation. Our thoughts are with the casualty and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.”
