Downstrands Family Resource Centre will host an All Men Equal Event (AME) tomorrow evening at the Dolmen Centre in Narin.
It will be held from 7-9pm in collaboration with the Donegal Men’s Health Network, and funded by HSE Connecting for Life Donegal.
This FREE event is open to men of all ages and aims to promote physical, mental, and social wellbeing through a range of interactive activities, health checks, health information and most importantly community connections.
“We welcome all men and encourage those from the surrounding area to connect or reconnect with their community as we believe connection is the key to a healthier life,” a spokesperson for the organisers said.
“Leaning into local historic rivalries, we would love to see an Ardara V Glenties tug of war or walking football….all in the name of fun!”
With increasing awareness of men’s health challenges—including mental health, isolation, financial stress, and physical wellbeing— this initiative ensures that essential resources and services are easily accessible in an informal and welcoming environment.
On the night, attendees can benefit from free health checks, haircuts, reflexology, sauna access, walking football, archery, quizzes, tug of war, walk the plank and a cup of tea and craic!
Information stands with representatives from Mental Health Ireland, Pieta House, Jigsaw, Men’s Development Network
Alone, Downstrands FRC, LYFS, Social Prescribing and key local organisations will be available to provide information and guidance to all attendees.
The event follows on from Donegal Men’s Health Network AME events in Letterkenny in 2024 and most recently in Creeslough with over 350 men attending. Built on the principle of ‘All Men Equal,’ fostering inclusivity and ensuring that every man, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability or economic background, feels welcome and supported.
