Garda investigation underway after teen girl allegedly assaulted in Ballybofey

Gardaí have launched a probe into an alleged assault that occurred in Ballybofey last night which reportedly left the victim in hospital.

Donegal Daily understands that a teenage girl was assaulted by a male in the incident.

In a widely-shared post on social media, the girl’s mother claimed she had been hospitalised after the attack.

An Garda Síochána have confirmed to Donegal Daily that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“Gardaí received a report of an assault at Lower Main Street, Ballybofey, Co Donegal, at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday, 16th April, 2025,” they said in a statement.

“Enquiries ongoing.”
