A man has appeared in court charged in relation to the death of Eddie Friel in Killybegs at the weekend.
James Spendley (57), of St Cummins Hill, Killybegs, appeared before Judge Sandra Murphy at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court this afternoon.
He was charged with Section 4 Assault Causing Harm under the Non-fatal Offences against the Person Act 1997.
Judge Murphy remanded Spendley in custody to appear before Sligo District Court via video link tomorrow. She added he will then be further remanded to Sligo District Court on April 24th.
An investigation was launched after the discovery of the body of Mr Friel in the town on Sunday.
Mr Friel, who was in his 60s, lived alone in a bungalow on the Harbour View Drive estate in the fishing town.
It is understood he may have died a violent death.
