An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny is set to rock with the music of Horslips on Saturday 26th April with Ireland’s only dedicated Horslips tribute band, Swords of Light.
Formed in 2022 by a group of Donegal and Derry musicians united by a deep love for Horslips’ groundbreaking fusion of traditional Irish music and progressive rock, Swords of Light launched in Belfast in front of a packed audience of devoted Horslips fans including two members of Horslips who gave the band their full endorsement, with Barry Devlin announcing them as “The Horslips tribute band of the future”. Their name, drawn from Horslips’ 1976 epic The Book of Invasions, is a nod to the mythic imagery that defined so much of the band’s music.
“Closed my eyes and thought I was listening to Horslips” – audience comment
Since then they have continued their mission to keep the incredible legacy of Horslips music alive and have played to delighted Horslips fans in three countries and now they return to their home county with their unique Horslips tribute show, and this is also a hometown gig for lead guitar wizard Will, a Letterkenny resident. They promise a set of back to back Horslips classics such as “The Man Who Built America”, “Trouble with a Capital T” and of course “Dearg Doom”.
Their performances have drawn audiences from across generations — from fans who saw Horslips live in the ’70s to Gen Z concertgoers discovering Celtic rock for the first time.
Tickets are a reasonable €22 including booking fee and available from An Grianán Theatre box office on
