Arranmore Island is gearing up to welcome back Roar on the Foreshore on Thursday, 17 April from 12pm to 2pm.
Organised by Donegal Local Development CLG’s Active Arranmore and supported by the Empowering Communities Fund, this free event invites everyone on the island to come together for an afternoon of fun, activity, and community connection.
Building on the huge success of last year’s gathering at Leab Garrow beach, this year’s event promises another lively celebration of all things local. Roar on the Foreshore is all about showcasing the spirit of community, highlighting the many positive programmes taking place across the island, and encouraging people of all ages to get active and involved.
On the day, guests can expect a mix of entertainment and activities designed to suit all interests and energy levels.
There will be live music performances from local musicians, including the ever-popular Cór Árainn Mhór, as well as fun beach games, a sizzling BBQ, and a variety of wellness tasters like chair yoga.
Those feeling adventurous can take part in sea dips or watch sailing and kayaking demonstrations hosted by Cumann na mBád. Highland Radio will be linking live from the event, bringing the atmosphere to listeners across the county.
“Last year’s event was a great day out for the whole community,” said John McCafferty, Manager of CFFAM. “We had over 100 people taking part, and it really built on the success of the year before. This time around, we’re aiming even higher — with new activities and a few surprises in store to make it bigger, better, and even more fun for everyone involved.
Martin McDevitt, Community Development Manager at DLDC, added: “Roar by the Foreshore is a brilliant example of what can happen when local energy and national support come together. It’s not just a fun day out — it’s a celebration of community resilience, wellbeing, and the power of people working together to create something meaningful on their own doorstep.”
