Plans for the construction of a new Special Educational Needs Unit at Scoil an Linbh Íosa have been approved.
It has been proposed that a new two-classroom SEN unit will be constructed at the front of the school.
Under the plans, there would also be a reconfiguration of the existing school entrance, including internal reconfigurations, the provision of a new one-way system to allow for bus drop-off areas, ne footpaths and dedicated parking for the SEN unit.
Works will also include the decommisioning of an existing septic tank, with a new treatment system replacing it.
Conditional planning approval for the project was granted by Donegal County Council this week.
News of the approval was shared by McCabe Architects, who designed the project.
“McCabe Architects, on behalf of the Board of Management of the school has secured planning permission from Donegal County Council for a new Special Education Needs Unit,” they said.
“This is a huge step forward in ensuring that students with additional needs get the best possible support and facilities. This new modern unit will undoubtedly make a big difference in the lives of many children and their families.”
