A number of Donegal projects are to benefit from the €35 million received under the Health Service Executive’s Capital Plan for 2025.
Welcoming the allocation, Deputy Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher said it was a huge boost for the county.
Some of the projects to share the €35M funding include, the new Cleary Centre in Donegal Town, an extension to Donegal Hospice and a new Primary Care Centre for Lifford.
The Hospice extension is to begin construction later this year while the Cleary Centre for adults with disabilities is to proceed to the detailed design stage.
Deputy Gallagher said the Cleary centre committee has worked tirelessly, over the years to secure approval for the new centre which will be erected on the site of the former centre at Drumlonagher.
A range of indoor and outdoor therapeutic spaces will be provided. It will include four large multipurpose rooms with a secure outdoor space, also included will be a physio room, regulation room, training kitchen, laundry room, and a large dining area. Outdoor recreational spaces as well as a greenhouse will be provided.
“Planning permission for the development has been granted and I have called on the HSE to invite tenders as soon as practically possible, with a view to commence the building by Q4,” Deputy Gallagher said.
Pat the Cope paid tribute to the O ‘Cleary centre parents and friend group of the centre and the HSE project team.
