A local councillor has raised a number of road safety concerns relating to a busy service station on the N15.
Cllr Gary Doherty was speaking on the issue at yesterday’s meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District.
Declining to name the station, he said the premises would benefit from a separate entrance and exit as well the relocation of its fuel price totem pole.
“It would benefit from the use of one side as entrance and one as an exit as it can cause a backup of traffic on that road – it’s very dangerous,” Cllr Doherty said.
“Maybe it’s not the company’s fault, but if these changes were made it would make life easier and safer for users. The totem pole for prices could also benefit from being a few feet further back as vision lines are awful for traffic emerging. Maybe the council could liaise with that company.”
In response, Area Engineer Claire McGeever said she would speak to Cllr Doherty in person about the issues.
She added it may be something that needs to be raised with both the council’s Planning and Roads Sections.
