Donegal County Council has promised to take urgent action after a number of people tripped and fell recently on a footpath in the centre of Ballybofey.
Councillor Gary raised the issue at yesterday’s meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District.
Four people, he said, recently tripped on ‘loose stones’ on the footpath outside McElhinney’s Stores.
“Could the council fix this footpath as soon as possible, it is obviously presenting a hazard when four people have already fallen,” Cllr Doherty said.
Councillor Martin Harley praised the council for the ‘excellent work’ on the new Navenny Street footpaths.
However, Cllr Martin Scanlon pointed out that the footwalks in Ard McCool were in a ‘dreadful state.’
Area Roads Engineer, Claire McGeever, said her department would prioritise the repairs to the footpath outside McElhinneys.
