Donegal County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Niamh Kennedy has brought together a stellar lineup of musical talent for one-off charity benefit concert for Donegal Domestic Violence Services.
The special concert will take place on April 18th at An Grianán theatre, promising an evening of performances to remember for an important cause.
Two of Donegal’s most beloved and internationally acclaimed musicians, Clannad’s Moya Brennan and Altan’s Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, will share the hosting duties for the concert. Both highly acclaimed for their exceptional contribution to Irish music and heritage, Moya and Mairéad will not only guide the audience through the evening but also take to the stage themselves, offering an evening of deeply moving and inspiring music. The programme will incorporate a range of excellent performers, including:
The Friel Sisters – Exceptional trio of talented singers renowned for their gorgeous soulful trad sound and intimate harmonies, bringing a warm, genuine Donegal voice to the evening. Maura Logue – Esteemed actor and playwright whose poignant performances bring a poetic and expressive tone to the performance. Larabel – A Gaoth Dobhair star in the making, this gifted singer-songwriter is set to captivate listeners with her beautiful and poignant music.
Danú Young Women’s Choir – A choir that catches the power and beauty of young voices united in song, offering an emotive choral performance.
This gig honours the immense musical legacy of Donegal, and highlights the vital services undertaken by Donegal Domestic Violence Services. The proceeds generated at the evening will directly go into assisting victims of domestic violence. Cllr. Niamh Kennedy, speaking on the occasion:
