A man who stole expensive perfume from a Letterkenny chemist on three separate occasions has been ordered to stay out of Letterkenny.
Pardelian Rostas was given a suspended prison sentence for stealing over €1,000 worth of perfume.
Judge Ciaran Liddy told Rostas to stay out of Letterkenny and specifically to stay out of Magees Pharmacy.
The 24-year-old faced charges in relation to thefts from the pharmacy on Main Street, Letterkenny and was also charged with a number of road traffic offences.
Rostas appeared via video link from Cloverhill Prison and his solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher indicated a plea of guilty to all charges.
Rostas address was listed as Mount Southwell, Market Square, Letterkenny, but the accused informed the court that he now has an address in the Dublin 24 area.
Rostas was charged with three separate thefts, taking amounts valued at totals of €344, €274.80 and €393.80, from Magee’s Pharmacy on Main Street, Letterkenny.
The property was not recovered, Sergeant Maurice Doyle said, adding that Rostas had five previous convictions.
Mr Gallagher said there were other parties with Rostas for the theft incidents. “He felt himself pressured by another party and he makes apologies,” Mr Gallagher said.
Mr Gallagher told the court that there had been “specific orders made for specific products” and said his client holds his hands up for the road traffic matters.
“He had difficulty with cannabis and he was a frequent user,” Mr Gallagher said. “Risks were taken and he understands that he should have had insurance. That was down to economic necessity.”
Judge Liddy sentenced Rostas to 12 months in prison and suspended the sentence for one year.
Rostas was disqualified from driving for four years. Six separate disqualifications, handed down for three drug-driving convictions and three counts of driving without insurance, are to run concurrently.
He is due to be released from Cloverhill later this month.
