Donegal fans travelling to Ballybofey for their Ulster Championship opener against Derry have been reminded of the parking restrictions in place in the town today.
With a sellout crowd expected at MacCumhaill Park, the public are being reminded to park responsibly and also to expect large traffic delays before and after the game.
Gardaí say that fines will be handed out, and that cars may be towed if they are found to be parked illegally around the town.
“Parking will be available in several car parks around the town. Please utilise these areas fully. We ask all persons attending the game to please park responsibly,” Gardaí said.
“Do not park in a manner that causes obstruction to footpaths, private entrances or that obstructs the free flow of traffic. Any vehicles found to be causing an obstruction will be subject to fixed charge notices as necessary and may be towed.”
Gardaí have also issued further advice for fans ahead of the game.
“This is a ticket only event. Only match ticket holders will be permitted entry to the ground. Also please note that no alcohol is permitted inside the ground, any alcohol found inside the ground will be subject to confiscation.”
“Only vehicles authorised by Donegal GAA will be permitted access to car park at Mac Cumhaill Park main entrance. Limited parking for Blue Badge holders is available at car park at stand entrance (behind Villa Rose hotel). Vehicle access to this car park is via Back Road at Jackson’s Hotel. Once this area is full there will be no vehicle access to this area. There is limited disabled parking availability on the Main Street and in car parks in the vicinity of the grounds.”
“Please follow directions from Gardaí, security staff and stewards in the area. We hope that everyone has an enjoyable day and we wish both teams the best of luck.”
