A gorse fire has broken out in the Barnesmore Gap.
Members of the public noticed the fire shortly after 5:30pm this evening as smoke began to billow over the hills.
A number of fire crews have arrived on the scene and have been fighting the blaze for at least 90 minutes.
There is also concern as there are a number of residences in the vicinity of where the gorse fire broke out, on the Donegal Town side of the Gap.
County Donegal has seen a stretch of unseasonably mild and sunny weather recently, with Donegal County Council issuing a status orange gorse fire warning prior to this weekend.
