A Kerrykeel man has been convicted of trespassing on the property of a neighbour.
Sean Paul Friel, with an address at Herkin, Ballymagowan, Kerrykeel, was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with the incident which occurred on July 21, 2022.
The offence was outlined by Inspector Seamus McGonigle, who told the court that gardai were called to a disturbance between neighbours at around 10pm.
Inspector McGonigle said that a man alleged that someone was trespassing on his property and shouting abuse.
He made a statement of complaint and said that while he did not know the name of the person he described him very well.
The victim was able to point out where the other man lived.
Inspector McGonigle said that Friel admitted that he had called down to the house and shouted abuse when gardai called to speak with him.
Mr Patsy Gallagher, solicitor for Friel, said that the incident shouldn’t have happened and his client “fully accepts that”.
Friel, who has a previous conviction for an offence contrary to the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994, was fined €250 by Judge Ciaran Liddy and given six months to pay.
