Two men have been arrested on drug trafficking offences after a major drugs raid in Donegal.
The search and seizure took place yesterday in the Ballybofey area, where Revenue officers seized approximately 112 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €2,240,000.
Two men in their 30s were arrested by An Garda Síochána and are currently detained at a Garda Station in Donegal under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit.
“Investigations are ongoing,” a spokesperson said.
“This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on phone number 1800 295 295.”
