John O’Donnell Construction Ltd. is a construction company based in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. Due to continued growth, we are hiring for three roles:
- Position 1 – Site Engineer
- Position 2 – Quantity Surveyor
- Position 3 – Site Manager
See below for details of each position:
Site Engineer (Junior & Senior)
Responsibilities:
- Successful delivery of project and ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Setting out of works using total stations, GPS and lasers
- Recording site activities, site photographs and production of as built drawings
- Assist with managing site safety file: site inductions and tool box talks etc
- Assist with programme management, progress reports and technical queries
- Test materials as directed, quality review on site for rebar and concrete placement
- Assist Site Manager with coordination of work as required
- Monitor and check setting out instruments and testing equipment
- Attend meetings as required, liaise with project team, regulatory bodies etc.
Requirements:
- Third level qualification in Engineering, Surveying or related
- Relevant main contractor experience in a similar role
- Broad knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards, specifications, regulations etc.
- Full clean Irish/EU driving licence

Quantity Surveyor (Junior & Senior)
Responsibilities:
- Collaboration with project team to ensure project successful completion
- Analyse project specification and drawings to execute accurate cost estimates
- Conduct material take-offs to assist the material buyer
- Monitor project costs and provide regular financial updates to management
- Site visits and preparation of interim project valuations
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents
- Support QS with contract admin
Requirements:
- Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Site Manager
Responsibilities:
- Drive forward the importance of H&S and quality in the progression of the project
- Liaise with Consultants, Subcontractors, Supervisors, QS and general work force
- Support the Project Manager and QS as required
- Be familiar with all project drawings, specification and details
- Plan, organise and direct activities on site in relation to construction
- Develop project schedules in accordance with the project programme and action them
- Manage complete day to day lifecycle of project from initial stages through to hand-over
Requirements:
- Third level qualification in Construction Management or equivalent related area
- Relevant experience in a similar role and ability to read construction drawings
- Broad knowledge of building regulations, safety legislation and quality management
- Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changes
- Strong organisational skills with knowledge of MS Office
- Full Clean Driving licence
