Raphoe had a handsome victory over Civil Service at home at the weekend.
Raphoe 4
Civil Service 1
After a slow start last weekend and falling to defeat, Raphoe were determined to set things straight this weekend as they welcomed Civil Service to the east Donegal town.
The home side started brightly, stringing some good passes together keeping possession well. Creating great chances it was only a matter of time before Raphoe hit the front. Raphoe won their first short corner after some great play down the wings. Simon Gouide with a superb drag flick low past the keeper to open the scoring. Raphoe kept the pressure on and scored their 2nd minutes later with James Wilson and Jake McKnight linking up well to allow Jake to tap home for 2-0.
Into the 2nd quarter, Raphoe stepped off the pedal becoming sloppy on the ball allowing Service to keep the ball well and create good chances themselves winning a few short corners.
Into the third quarter and Raphoe picked up the pace moving the ball well, creating good chances and winning a few short corners of their own. Their 3rd goal came when Simon and Mattew lecky worked the ball well to allow Mattew to get a reverse stick shot off finding the net. 3-0 up Raphoe looked to close out the game but this wasn’t to be as service found the net to get 1 back.
Into the final quarter, Raphoe looked to keep their 2 goal lead. Playing well holding the ball well Raphoe drove forward looking for a 4th. Johnny Long and Cameron Nawn linked up well down the right, winning Raphoe another short corner. Again Simon and Mattew worked it well allowing Mattew to riffle past the keeper to score.
Full time: Raphoe 4-1 Civil service
Scorers: Jake McKnight, Simon Gouide, Mattew lecky x2
Next weekend Raphoe welcome Newry to Raphoe as they look to finish the season strong.
