A Donegal County Councillor has issued a warning against littering after finding a broken glass bottle on the side of a national road.
The bottle, tossed onto the N56, was found by chance by Cllr Michael McClafferty at the weekend.
Cllr McClafferty said the danger of this type of litter cannot be underestimated.
He has called on the public to think of other road users before littering.
“Please be responsible along our roads or hedgerows, please take your glass bottles to your nearest bottle bank,” Cllr McClafferty said.
He said: “Please think of cyclists with low profile tyres, coaches, lorries, and horse riders etc. You decide the next time before you throw your bottle on the above scenarios what your broken glass could do, or worse. cost lives.”
