A Culdaff man with 48 previous convictions has been put off the road after being caught drug-driving in Letterkenny.
Michael McColgan was given a one-year driving ban when he appeared before Letterkenny District Court.
A 42-year-old of Stoneywood, Culdaff, Mccolgan was charged with driving or attempting to drive a mechanically propelled vehicle while exceeding the drug-driving limit.
The offence occurred at Larkins Lane, Letterkenny, on June 23, 2023.
Mr Rory O’Brien, solicitor for McColgan, said his client was “just over the limit” on the day in question.
“There is no justification or condoning of it, but it was something that remained in his system rather than something he consumed a short period before,” Mr O’Brien said, asking the court to be as lenient as possible.
Judge Ciaran Liddy disqualified McColgan from driving for a period of one year and fined him €150.
