New research by Switcher.ie has revealed Donegal is the most affordable place in Ireland for first time buyers.
Their First Time Buyer Affordability Index 2025 shows the least and most attainable areas for joint buyers and sole buyers, based on how long it would take to save for a deposit in each region.
Donegal came third for affordability, taking first time buyers an average 2.0 years to save for a deposit – down from 3.4 years last year.
According to the report, the average price for a home in Donegal is €200,000.
Dublin’s Dún Laoghaire is the least affordable place and could take up to 21.4 years to raise a downpayment – down from 27.9 years in 2024.
