A man who shouted at Gardai to “f*** off’ and refused to leave a branch of McDonalds has been jailed for a month.
Blake Tobin, 41, appeared at Letterkenny District Court in Co Donegal.
Tobin was arrested after being drunk and for shouting on the Port Road in Letterkenny on August 20th, 2024.
Gardai had asked him to cooperate and to leave the area but he told them to “f*** off.”
He was eventually arrested, taken to Letterkenny Garda Station, charged and then released.
However, later that day, Gardai received a call from McDonalds staff saying a man was sleeping in the fast-food outlet and was refusing to leave.
Gardai again spoke to Tobin who began making threats against McDonalds and he was subsequently arrested.
The court was told that Tobin, of no fixed abode, has a lo of previous convictions with many linked to public order.
Solicitor Frank Murphy said his client was a Dublin native who went off his medication and was drinking heavily.
He has been in custody since March 3rd where he is now receiving the relevant medication again and is back on track.
Judge Eiteain Cunningham sentenced Tobin to four weeks in prison and backdated it to March 3rd.
