Glenveagh National Park has announced the opening of a revamped restaurant at the visitor centre.
The iconic round restaurant has been given a new look and a new name.
Named ‘Nellie’s’ after local woman Nellie Gallagher, the restaurant is a tribute to the renowned cook who prepared meals for American millionaire and former estate owner Henry McIlhenny. Mr McIlhenny was known for entertaining on a grand scale and Nellie was a key part of his famous hospitality.
Nellie’s will officially open its doors tomorrow, Friday 28th March and will be open daily from 9.30am to 5pm.
“Inspired by her legacy, we’re serving up hearty homemade dishes with a touch of old-world charm right in the heart of the park,” a spokesperson said.
Diners can expect locally sourced coffee, fresh bakes and wholesome meals with a nod to Nellie’s classic recipes.
