A woman who was caught with €100 of cocaine in an old handbag when Gardai raided her home in St Johnston has had her case struck out in court.
The woman appeared at Letterkenny District Court before Judge Eiteain Cunningham.
She was charged that on January 11th, 2024 in St Johnston, she had unlawfully in her possession a controlled drug, namely cocaine.
The charge is Contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and Contrary to 27(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 as substituted by Section 6 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1984.
The court was told that the woman’s home was raided by officers from the drugs unit.
Solicitor for the woman, Mr Frank Murphy, said the cocaine was found in an old handbag which the woman had not used for some time.
He added that the drugs was so old it had changed colour and that the woman no longer used the drug and had not for many years.
She is now in a relationship and has children, he added.
Judge Cunningham ordered the accused to make a €200 donation to a local charity.
She then struck out the case.
