A Donegal man charged with sexual assault has been given time to consider his position.
The man, who is in his 50s and cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault against the same woman.
The case was before Buncrana District Court, which heard that a book of evidence is not yet ready.
The court was informed that solicitor Mr Donough Cleary is coming on record for the accused man.
He is charged that on a date unknown between January 1998 and August 2004, that he did sexual assault the woman. The charge is contrary to section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990 as amended by section 37 of the Sexual Offences Act 2001.
The man was further charged with a similar offence, against the same woman, relating to a date in August 2004.
The matter may proceed to the Circuit Court on a plea of guilty.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham adjourned the matter until June 12, 2025.
