The 100 Cadet Class of the Irish Defence Forces has succeeded in a massive mountaineering charity challenge in Donegal.
On Friday, the troops ran 100km non-stop from Finner Camp to the base of Errigal Mountain. Then they climbed Donegal’s highest mountain in full gear.
The challenge, which took them 12 hours, has been described as “seriously impressive” and “outrageous” by stunned followers on social media.

The future soldiers stepped up to the task to raise funds for three charities: Archie’s Army, The Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel (O.N.E.) and Irish United Nations Veterans Association.
Archie’s Army is a charity set up for a 7-year-old boy from who has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Irish Defence Forces have dedicated themselves where possible in raising money for this charity as Archie’s father, Kenneth is a Sgt in the Irish Defence Forces.
