Gardaí have released details of their traffic plan for Sunday’s Allianz League clash between Donegal and Tyrone in Letterkenny.
Throw-in at O’Donnell Park is at 3.30pm.
A road closure will be in place from Kernans Spar, Lower Main Street to O’ Donnell Park from 1.30pm with limited access for local traffic. The road will also be closed for a period following the game to allow time for spectators to safely access the town car parks.
Parking at O’Donnell Park will be limited to those attending with relevant passes. The area around the park is mainly residential with no parking available. There is limited disabled parking availability in the vicinity of the grounds.
“Park in a responsible manner and ensure that you are not blocking access for emergency vehicles, pedestrians or wheelchair users,” a garda spokesperson said.
People attending the game from the town side of the grounds are encouraged to arrive early and to avail of parking within the town (town car parks etc.) and to walk to the grounds. They can also avail of the free shuttle bus which will be available from Kernans Spar before the game.
People attending the game from the Newmills side of the grounds are also advised to arrive early and to avail of parking at the Aura Leisure Centre. Once this carpark is full, the traffic coming from the Newmills direction will be requested to park along the roadside on the far side of the grounds facing for home.
“Traffic delays are to be expected both before and after the match. While we endeavour to assist traffic movement as much as possible, the large numbers attending will result in unavoidable delays. Adding additional time for your journey is advisable.
“Please follow directions from Gardaí and stewards in the area. We hope that everyone has an enjoyable day and we wish both teams the best of luck.”
