The winner of the €1 Million lotto jackpot sold in Kernan’s of Newmills on Monday last has yet to come forward their windfall.
Champagne corks popped at the popular shop at Tullygay today as National Lottery officials came to Donegal to toast the winner.
It’s the biggest lottery win in the county since February 2023.
There was a brilliant buzz about the shop today as the guessing game continued as to who the lucky winner could be.
Store manager Barry Daly told Donegal Daily he hopes it’s a local.
“We found out on Monday that we had sold the winning ticket but we had to keep it quiet. That was hard to do.
“It’s great for the shop and it’s great for the area, there’s a great bit of craic about.
“I really do hope it is somebody local as we get a huge amount of local trade as well as passing trade. The best of luck to them whoever it is,” he said.
Lottery spokesperson Darragh O’Dwyer said the winner has not come forward as of yet.
“I’ve been told there is a lot of local trade comes into the shop and it would be lovely if it was someone local. Whoever it is, it’s great to get it,” he said.
The winning numbers on Monday 10th March, 2pm Daily Million draw were 1, 3, 7, 8, 12, 33 and the bonus was 23.
