Bruckless woman Arlene Melly has become one of the first users of a new community-funded therapy chair in Letterkenny University Hospital’s Dialysis Unit.
Arlene, the wife of newly-elected Fine Gael Senator Manus Boyle, undergoes regular dialysis in the renal unit at LUH.
Visits are now much more comfortable thanks to a new ComfortLine2 therapy chair, purchased by the Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital.
The sophisticated chair, which cost €5,000, is a state-of-the-art design for patient comfort, hygiene and adjustability.
For patients like Arlene, it’s a game-changer for appointments.
The Friends of LUH volunteers introduced the new facility on social media as “another example of the Friends supporting LUH and improving services for patients.”

Arlene Melly, a service user of the Renal Dialysis Unit in LUH is surrounded by nursing staff, catering and care staff in the Renal Unit while using the newly acquired ComfortLine2 therapy chair.
“Thanks so much to Paddy Rooney & Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital for purchasing this renal chair,” Arlene replied.
“Within a few weeks from talking to Paddy, the Comfortline2 chair was delivered to the Renal Unit. It is a fantastic chair, so comfortable and with all the necessary functions.
