The body of a man in his 40s was recovered in Downings yesterday after a tragic incident.
The man, who is from Derry, had been missing since Saturday night. His remains were found by his family near Downings Pier the following day.
Gardaí were alerted to the discovery on Sunday evening. The body of the deceased was removed from the scene to the local mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Foul play is not suspected at this time as gardaí treat the incident as a tragic accident.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner’s office.
