Over 500 native trees will be planted across Donegal next week, as part of National Tree Week.
The trees are being provided for free by Coillte and the Donegal County Council Biodiversity Office, and have been distributed to 15 local groups across the county for planting.
National Tree Week is an annual event organised by the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, and runs from today, Sunday the 9th of March, until Sunday the 16th of March.
You can view tree planting events in your local area online at https://www.nationaltreeweek.ie/list-of-events.
“Planting Trees, Growing Together” is this year’s National Tree Week theme, which the Tree Council say will highlight “the deep connection between trees, people, and the environment, emphasising how tree planting fosters stronger communities, promotes sustainability, and prepares us for a changing climate.”
