Fanad United are out of the FAI Junior Cup, after a dramatic finish at Triagh-a-Loch this afternoon.
They put up a valiant effort against Limerick side Fairview Rangers, who are nine-time winners of the competition – but again the crucial home advantage was in favour of the Fanad men like in previous rounds.
Fanad would use that home advantage to fine effect in the first half of this Quarter-Final, going ahead ten minutes before half-time through Paddy McGinley.
Fairview were far from beaten though, and through two quick second-half strikes were in the driver’s seat – all the way until a chaotic injury time period at the end of 90 minutes.
Eddie O’Reilly bagged a dramatic 94th minute equaliser for Fanad, giving them hope of extra-time or potentially even bagging a winner with the moments remaining.
Instead it would be Fairview who would break Fanad hearts, notching a 96th last-ditch winner to end Fanad’s cup adventure.
