Enya’s most iconic album Watermark last night won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for best Classic Irish Album.
Watermark was the second studio album of Enya, released in 1988 when she was just 26 years old.
Orinoco Flow the album’s global hit, was the final song written for the album. Selling an estimated 10 million albums, Watermark achieved multi-Platinum-selling status in many countries and is credited with propelling Enya to global fame and acclaim.
The elusive Gweedore artist did not attend the RTÉ Choice Music Prize ceremony last night in Vicar Street. However, her achievement was celebrated by Julie Feeney, the first winner of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize AOTY (2005), who welcomed Priscilla Kotey (Warner Music MD) to the stage to collect Enya’s award.

The event, hosted by RTÉ 2FM’s Tracy Clifford, took place live in Vicar St and was broadcast live on 2FM with Beta Da Silva, included exclusive performances from eight of the nominated artists.
Fontaines D.C. were announced as the winner of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2024.
Kabin Crew & Lisdoonvarna Crew were voted the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year for their song “The Spark”.
KNEECAP won Breakthrough Irish Artist of the Year presented by 2FM’s Beta Da Silva.
Irish Artist of the Year was won by Jordan Adetunji, presented by Gemma Bradley, BBC NI.
RTÉ2 will broadcast a one-hour TV programme of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize, featuring performances from the eight acts and hosted by Tracy Clifford on Thursday 13th March at 22.35.
