Apartment plans for historic Twin Towns building

Plans are to be submitted to Donegal County Council for permission to convert an historic Twin Towns building for apartments. 

Barry Jackson intends to seek the go-ahead to partially demolish the structure on Ballybofey’s Main Street and to construct six residential units.

The proposed development will consist of the partial demolition and reconstruction of the building formerly known as ‘The Arcade’, which backs onto Back Road.

One of the oldest buildings in the town, it has fallen into disrepair in recent years.

During the early part of the last century, it was used as a ‘market house’. Its distinctive arched window was said to have formerly been the main entrance for horses and carts to pass through with their goods.
