If you’re far from home and missing the taste of Donegal, you can get a ‘Lidl’ sip this St Patrick’s Day!
The famous Football Special drinks are back in Lidl stores in the Republic AND Northern Ireland from 10th March.
Shoppers will be able to pick up 1lt bottles of Football Special, Exotic Pineapple and American Cream Soda for the week that’s in it.
The drinks flew off the shelves in August when drinks producers McDaids of Ramelton joined Lidl’s Kickstart Supplier Development Programme.
Now they’re delighted with the chance to share the flavour outside of Donegal again.
“Once again there will be limited stock available so make sure to get in early to grab yourself a bottle or two. They sold out super quickly last time so keep this in mind!,” said McDaids.
“Big thanks to @lidlireland and @lidlni for this opportunity, and to you guys, for always supporting our humble old soft drink.
“Go get yourselves a Lidl sip of Donegal!”
Since the 1940s, McDaids, the family behind Football Special, has been developing soft drinks to go with any occasion. The soft drinks are made from their original recipes from the 1940s and 1950s, came in a recyclable glass bottle and contain no artificial sweeteners.
Now run by Seamus McDaid, this fourth-generation family soft drinks business blends nostalgia, flavour, and colour with Donegal’s free spirit to create a legendary Donegal brand. Over the years, Seamus McDaid and his team have worked closely with the Local Enterprise Office in Donegal.
