Gardaí have issued a traffic reminder for all fans who are making the trip to Ballyshannon for this afternoon’s Allianz National League game between Donegal and Derry.
With a bumper crowd of over 7,000 fans expected for the hotly-anticipated matchup, fans are being reminded that there is ample matchday parking across Ballyshannon and in the vicinity of Fr Tierney Park.
Throw-in this afternoon is at 1:45pm.
“Supporters are asked not to park in any way that causes obstruction to vehicular or pedestrian traffic or that blocks any entrance to houses, businesses, property or field gates,” a Garda spokesperson said.
“Please follow all directions given by An Garda Síochána and the match day stewards. Allow sufficient time for your journey as a large crowd is expected. Most importantly, travel safely.”
Gardaí have also stressed there is ample match day parking in Ballyshannon and in the vicinity of grounds.
All public car parks and on-street parking locations are available on the day and will be free of charge. Furthermore, arrangements are in place for additional parking at the Mart site (located immediately at the Belleek/ Dublin exit off the Ballyshannon Bypass and just a 10 minute walk from the ground) and at Northwest Floors and Furniture (the old Heitons site) with ample parking only a five minute walk to the ground.
Use of these car parks is also free of charge and are strongly encouraged. Both sites offer a quick exit from the venue, directly onto the Ballyshannon Bypass. Furthermore, vehicles exiting the NW Floors & Furniture car park have the option to travel towards Bundoran to join the Ballyshannon/Bundoran bypass and therefore avoid queuing traffic leaving the town. Additional on street parking will be available along the main roads towards Belleek, Bundoran and Donegal Town.
