Members of the Mulroy Coast Guard and the Rescue 118 helicopter were called into action to assist in a medical evacuation.
The incident took place shortly after 2pm this afternoon at the Great Pollet Arch in Fanad.
It’s understood that a member of the public suffered a broken ankle in the incident, with members of the ambulance service also deployed to the scene as well as Coast Guard rescuers.
Malin Head Coast Guard Centre confirmed to Donegal Daily that the both the Rescue 118 crew and Mulroy Coast Guard crew were involved in the operation.
The Rescue 118 helicopter airlifted the patient to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment.
