Gardaí are conducting patrols in the Killygordon area after an alleged ‘incident’ involving a male motorist and schoolchildren.
The alleged incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon as the pupils made their way from Dromore National School to Crossroads village.
It is claimed that a man driving a white car followed the girls before offering them a lift home.
The school principal sent a message to parents yesterday giving details of the alleged incident.
“The occupant of the car was a male who put down the window and spoke to the girls,” she said.
“He then asked them their names and where they lived – he offered them a lift. The girls didn’t engage and ran home.”
The principal added that Gardaí were informed and that they were patrolling the area.
In an update, parents were informed this morning that guards have identified the vehicle and its driver.
“He (the driver) is aware of what has been reported,” the principal added.
“There will be regular patrols conducted in the area. I will keep you informed if there is any further information.”
We have asked a garda spokesperson for a comment.
