It’s a big day for the pupils and staff of Glenswilly National School.
The school has advanced as county champions to take part in the All Ireland finals of the VEX IQ robotics competition at MTU in Cork today, February 27th.
The school’s proud team members Joseph, Séan, Dylan, Oran, Thomas, Ethan, Luca and Davin picked up many awards at the Northwest competition in January such as Coding Champions, Think Award, Driver Skills Champions, Teamwork Champions and overall Regional Champions.
And the team has named their robot ‘Líon na Bearnaí’ meaning fill in the blanks, which is what it does in this year’s game ‘Rapid Relay’ where you get points for passing and shooting into four targets.
The competition has given us lifelong teamwork and STEAM skills.
The school would like to thank Gary Cullen and John Conaghan from the ATU, their principal Mr. Gallinagh and their teacher Mr. Hunter for all their support and for making the trip possible.
The school said it also wants to wish their fellow Donegal schools the best of luck in Cork. Tir Chonaill Abú.
