A pedestrian in his 70s has been killed after being struck by a car in County Laois last night.
The crash occurred on the N80 at Crannagh near Stradbally at around 10.45pm.
The man was pronounced dead a short time after the collision.
His body was removed to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
The female driver of the car, aged in her 30s, was not injured.
The death of the man in Stradbally comes a day after five-year-old Aaron Hussain was killed after being struck by a car in Portlaoise.
