There is huge sadness this morning following the passing of little Danny McLaughlin from Trentagh.
Brave toddler Danny, who was one and a half years old, became Donegal’s newest Honorary Garda recently.
A huge fuss was made when the Trentagh lad graduated as a Little Blue Hero with An Garda Síochána just last week.
The Little Blue Hero charity programme helps gardaí support children in their communities who are undergoing long-term medical treatment for critical illness.
However, all those whose lives Danny touched are mourning this morning following his sad passing.
Danny passed away peacefully at his late residence surrounded by his loving family.
He will always be missed and loved so much by his heartbroken parents Michael, Annie & twin brother Charlie. Deeply regretted by grandparents, Marcus & Teresa, Sabrina & Livinius and will be fondly remembered by his uncle Marcus, aunts Orla & Megan, extended family members, neighbours & friends.
Danny was born with an inoperable brain tumour and received round-the-clock care from his amazing family, as well as nurses.
Danny and his twin brother Charlie enjoyed a very special day recently as they were treated to an impressive display by new front line colleagues including the fire service, coast guard service and ambulance personnel.
He pictured at his graduation event with his twin brother Charlie, his mother (Annie), his father (Michael) and the emergency services.
Honorary Garda Danny was presented with his certificate by Sergeant Gráinne Mc Loone and Sergeant Charlene Anderson.
