A woman who stole groceries and alcohol from a Letterkenny supermarket has pleaded guilty.
At Letterkenny District Court, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham asked for a probation order to be prepared in the case of Kelly Casey.
The 45-year-old, with an address at Glendale Manor, Letterkenny, was before the court in connection with an incident on November 28, 2024.
Casey pleaded guilty to the theft of groceries and alcohol to a total value of €45.93, the property of Dunnes Stores, Forte Lynne Shopping Centre, Letterkenny.
The charge is contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.
Casey spoke only to indicate her wish for the matter to be heard in the District Court and to plead guilty to the charge.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that Casey placed a number of items on a trolly and placed them into a large grocery bag. Some of the items were taken out of the trolly at the cashier.
The court was informed that the stolen items were retrieved and resaleable.
Sergeant Collins outlined that Casey was convicted for a theft last year and received a 12-month probation order and was before the court for two other theft matters on the same occasion which were marked as taken into consideration.
“That is a difficulty,” Judge Cunningham outlined.
Seeking the preparation of a probation report, Judge Cunningham adjourned the matter until June 16.
