An Garda Siochana has vowed to expedite the case of a Donegal man charged with causing the deaths of two teenage friends in a 2017 crash in Quigley’s Point as quickly as possible.

Ricky Fagan, who has been charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of Nathan Fullerton (17) and Nathan Farrell (18) (pictured above) has been remanded in custody after being extradited to Donegal on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.

A book of evidence in the case of the 31-year-old is not yet ready, Letterkenny District Court heard.

Fagan was recently further charged with the possession of cocaine and with possessing cocaine with the intent to sell or supply it to others. Those charges relate to an incident at Mulberry Avenue, Buncrana, on July 10, 2020.

Fagan, whose address was previously given as Mulberry Avenue in Buncrana, appeared by video link from Castlerea Prison.

He was represented by solicitor Mr Donough Cleary.

Sergeant Jim Collins told Judge Éiteáin Cunningham that the State was seeking further time for the book of evidence. Judge Cunningham consented and Fagan was remanded to appear before a court sitting in March.

“While the charges are somewhat historical, they were proffered quite recently,” Sergeant Collins said. “The files have been submitted to the DPP. We will seek to expedite it as quickly as possible”.

Fagan was the alleged driver of a car in which Mr Fullerton and Mr Farrell were travelling in, along with two other friends, on April 29, 2017. The car hit a wall before crashing into a tree on the Quigley’s Point to Moville road at around 3.35am.

The friends were returning home from a night out at a disco at the time.
