A Donegal Gaelscoil’s dream of a purpose-built school will become a reality this week.
Gaelscoil na gCeithre Máistrí in Donegal Town will relocate to their new home over the coming days.
Two years ago, the All-Irish speaking school was one of 16 school construction projects in Donegal affected by the government’s decision to stall funding. Management was informed of the delay with just one day left until the contract for tender for the new school expired.
However, Principal Eoghan Ó Gráda confirmed the pupils and staff will move into their new building in the coming days.
“The school will be transferring to the new building on Thursday and Friday,” he said.
“It will be a historic and momentous day when the children start back after the mid-term, in their new state of the art building.”
Phase three of construction, which will include a special education unit, is expected to be completed next year.
