Eamonn Mahon has been named as the new Coxswain of the Lough Swilly RNLI.
He replaces outgoing Coxswain George O’Hagan, who recently retired after 36 years of serving with the Lough Swilly crew.
Eamonn brings a wealth of experience to the role himself however, having spent 30 years as a volunteer with the service.
He has extensive experience in participating in rescue operations, as well as playing a key role in training new members of the service and advancing the capabilities of the Lough Swilly RNLI station also.
Joe Joyce from Lough Swilly RNLI said that: “This is great news for the station, Eamonn was a natural choice given his extensive search and rescue experience. We are delighted he has stepped into this role following George O’Hagan’s retirement.”
“With Eamonn at the helm, Lough Swilly RNLI looks forward to continuing its vital work, ensuring the safety of those at sea and supporting the local community into 2025 and beyond.”
